The June 2013 edition of ‘I’m a Scientist, Get me out of Here!’ competition has now closed and three University of Manchester researchers have been crowned winners of their zones.

Congratulations go to:

  • David Briggs (research area: investigating how and why we get Arthritis) – winner of the Crystallography zone.
  • Chris Whittle (research area: investigating why having diabetes mean that women have bigger babies) – winner of the Reproduction zone.
  • Hannah Brotherton (research area: investigating how and where the brain creates a sound known as “ringing in the ears”) – winner of the Tin zone.

Zone winners are awarded a prize of £500 to communicate their work with the public.

The next ‘I’m a Scientist event takes place in November 2013. School students challenge scientists over intense, fast-paced online live CHATs. They then ASK the scientists all the questions they want to, and VOTE for their favourite scientist.
