I am looking for a couple of health researchers who might be prepared to come along to workshops with the public, briefly describe their experiences of seeking research approval (both ethics and R&D) and then to enter into the debate with members of the public.

We can fund travel expenses and also fund their time.

We have been asked to streamline and simplify the research approval process. We are carrying out a number of workshops across the country with patients and the public to understand their views on this topic.

We are holding a workshop this week in Manchester to explain health research and the role of the research ethics committee to a group of the general public and then next week we will reconvene the group on Wednesday 27 March 2013. At this second workshop we will explain the research approval process overall and how we might change it in the future. These workshops are facilitated by MORI on our behalf.

The workshop will run from 5.30 to 8.30 pm on Wednesday 27 March in central Manchester. Food will be provided.

Happy to discuss further if that would help – email me at: amanda.hunn@nhs.net
