A quick round up of some current public engagement / outreach funding opportunities:

British Ecological Society Outreach Grants (closes 4 March 2013 & 17 September 2013)
Grants of up to £2,000 to increase public understanding of and engagement with ecology, stimulate discussion about ecology and its implications for society and develop skills in communicating the science of ecology. Go here for more details.

Royal Society Partnership Grants Scheme (closes 29 March 2013)
Through the scheme, grants of between £250 and £3,000 will be available to support teachers, scientists and engineers help develop science projects, with the aim of making the teaching science more interesting within primary and secondary schools. Any UK primary or secondary school teacher or practising scientist/engineer can apply as long as the students involved in the project are between 5 and 18. Go here for more details.

British Society for Immunology Small Grants (closes 1 April 2013)
Up to £500 to individuals hosting events aimed at communicating immunology to the general public and/or schools. Go here for more details.

Institute of Physics’ Public Engagement Grant Scheme 2013 – round 2 (closes 22 April 2013)
The grants are worth up to £1500 and aim to support physics-based outreach activities in the UK and Ireland throughout 2013. Activities should provide engaging experiences of physics to public audiences. Go here for more details.

Wellcome Trust Society Awards (closes 26 April 2013)
Society Awards provide funding for larger scale projects (above £30,000) that allow the public to explore biomedical science. This includes the scaling-up of successfully piloted projects or projects that are ambitious in scale and impact. Society Award-funded projects would normally expect to reach audiences with a wide geographical spread across the UK and/or Republic of Ireland. Go here for more details.

The Biochemical Society Outreach Grants (closes 29 April 2013)
To support activities and events that help communicate the excitement of the molecular sciences to school children and/or the general public. Applications are invited for sums up to £1000 to assist with the direct costs associated with an event and expenses incurred (e.g. transport and/or teacher cover).

Wellcome Trust Small Arts Awards (closes 28 June 2013)
The Small Arts Awards provides grants of up to £30,000 to projects that engage the public with biomedical science through the arts. The aim of the awards is to support arts projects that reach new audiences which may not traditionally be interested in science and provide new ways of thinking about the social, cultural and ethical issues around contemporary science. Royal Society of Chemistry Public Activities Small Grants Scheme
The Small Grants Scheme has funding available to support activities promoting the public awareness of chemistry and the chemical sciences. Small grants, up to £250 will be awarded to support activities requiring small amounts of money and that are not funded elsewhere in the RSC. Applications accepted all year round. The Physiological Society Outreach Grants
Outreach Grants provide up to £1000 per calendar year for Ordinary Members, Affiliates and Associate Members of The Society to run an outreach or public engagement activity. This could be a schools visit, a Meet the Scientists event at a science museum or an event at a science festival. It could be a stand-alone activity, or organised as part of a wider event such as Brain Awareness Week. Applications accepted all year round. Go here for details.
