International Women’s Day – ScienceGrrl Events

ScienceGrrl are putting on a couple of events in Manchester on 9 March 2013 to mark International Women’s Day. These include family activities at MOSI from 12-5pm (details here), and a speed networking event for science undergraduate science students, and postgraduate science students and professional scientists, from 7.30pm onwards (details here).

If you’d like to help out:

We need help with 3 things –

  1. Helping run the soft electronics (1-2.30pm) and mathematical magic workshops (3-4pm) at MOSI.
  2. Turning up in your work clothes with a gadget or tool you use for work, and being available to chat to visitors – we’ll give you a badge that says so!
  3. Turning up in your work clothes as in 2) but also being willing to jump on a soapbox in the main foyer and give a 5 minute talk about what you do for a living.

Please reply to this request via email (sciencegrrluk@gmail.com) to let me know if you can help with 1, 2 or 3 – or all of them!

For 2 and 3 you can come down for just a couple of hours if you can’t make the whole afternoon. If you would like to come to evening networking event, you can sign up here.

If you’d like to help promote the event:

Please spread the word about our afternoon events, particularly to people with children who may be interested, and encourage any undergraduate science students you know to come along to the networking event. Below are a couple of one-line invitations for you to cut’n’paste into email or facebook, they will need shortening for Twitter!

Join ScienceGrrl and Manchester Girl Geeks at MOSI for an afternoon of in the company of vibrant female scientists on 9 March. Try your hand at soft electronics, mathematical magic, or chat to friendly female scientists from a wide range of backgrounds and disciplines.
