The Royal Society is currently accepting nominations for the following science communication awards:

The Michael Faraday Prize is awarded annually to the scientist or engineer whose expertise in communicating scientific ideas in lay terms is exemplary. The medal is of silver gilt and is accompanied by a gift of £2,500. The winner is called upon to deliver a lecture at the Society. (The most recent award holder is Professor Brian Cox OBE, The University of Manchester). For full details go here.

The Kohn Award is for UK-based, early-career stage scientists who have undertaken high-quality public engagement activities that have had (or will have) a strategic impact on institutions, organisations and cultures. The medal is of silver gilt and is accompanied by a grant of £7,500 for science communication activities and a gift of £2,500. For full details go here.

The closing date for returning completed nomination forms is Friday 8 February 2013.

Anyone is able to nominate a candidate for a Royal Society medal, award or prize lectureship.
