Conference: Engage 2012, 5 & 6 December 2012, Bristol
We are delighted to announce that booking has now opened for our 3rd National Conference: Engage 2012. This two day conference will explore how public engagement enables universities to face the challenges posed by the need to more rigorously demonstrate the impact of research; increasing demands for a ‘relevant’ curriculum that prepares students for life beyond university; and the need to mobilise knowledge in addressing challenges faced by society.
Keynote presenters include Carole Souter (CBE), Chief Executive of the Heritage Lottery Fund and David Sweeney, Director (Research, Innovation and Skills), HEFCE; themed workshops; and a host of other interactive sessions, delegates will be able to explore different aspects of the engagement agenda including research; teaching and learning; knowledge exchange; and social responsibility. UK Community Partner Summit
In June this year community partners and academics came together to think about ways to build university community resilience. The delegates prioritised three areas of work and a working group is now meeting to take these ideas forward. To find out more about the summit, who’s involved and what’s happening next, visit here.

Creating Impact Case Studies for the REF: 16 January 2013, Bristol

Community Participation in Professional Practice at the University of Edinburgh
This new course is aimed at helping you make the most of new opportunities in this emerging area or solve problems in your current place of work. You will study with leading practitioners of participatory approaches via three Masterclasses in Edinburgh. The teaching team, led by Tom Wakeford, will be available for practical support and advice on your work-based assignment for up to three hours a week. The course starts in January 2013.
