Volunteer call for Manchester Science Festival event at Quarry Bank Mill, Styal

Quarry Bank Mill is one of Britain’s greatest industrial heritage sites and home to a working cotton mill active during the industrial revolution when it was manned almost exclusively by children. The site is dedicated to exploring what life was like for the Mill Community, including the type of diseases and treatments they would have received.

A new exhibition is launching at the end of September called Alien Invaders and will include activities about infection in consultation with the University of Manchester and Salford University. We need 2 volunteers for each day during Manchester Science Festival week (24-28 October) to help deliver these activities, which will include an exhibition, outdoor scavenger hunt, and Apprentice House tour.

You don’t need to be an expert! Training will be provided. Minimum commitment is 1 day. If you enjoy interacting with the public and would like an opportunity to experience a historic site please contact joanne.pennock@manchester.ac.uk or kathryn.else@manchester.ac.uk directly.
