The BEAM lab is jointly run by Drs Ellen Poliakoff and Emma Gowen from the School of Psychological Sciences and the Faculty of Life Sciences. They are interested in how our brains use sensory information such as vision and touch to move and interact with the world around us.

The BEAM lab is working with the Whitworth Art Gallery to run science-art masterclasses for children between 19 and 23 October.

The BEAM lab is involved with an art-science project ‘Imitation, dance and understanding: Connecting scientists and Women Asylum Seekers Together’.

autism@manchester (http://www.autism.manchester.ac.uk/) is running a series of Wellcome Trust-funded workshops as part of a project “Building bridges: creating partnerships between autistic and research communities.” The workshops are for adults with autism and parents of children with autism who are based in Greater Manchester. They will enable people affected by autism to learn more about how research works, engage in the research process and generate ideas that could be developed into research proposals. The workshops will take take place at the University of Manchester over three days: 11, 18, 25 November 2015.
