Two new Academic Leads have been appointed to help take forward key elements of the University’s social responsibility agenda

Academic Lead for Environmental Sustainability
Reporting to Professor James Thompson (Associate Vice-President for Social Responsibility), Professor Ian Cotton will take up the new role of Academic Lead for Environmental Sustainability. Ian is Professor of High Voltage Technology and Director of Manchester Energy, the network supporting the work of over 400 energy researchers across the University.

Academic Lead for Public Engagement with Research
Also reporting to Professor James Thompson (Associate Vice-President for Social Responsibility), Dr Sheena Cruickshank is Lecturer in Immunology in the Faculty of Life Sciences and brings considerable experience in engaging the public with her research.

Professor James Thompson said: “The appointments of Ian and Sheena will provide additional capacity to drive forward two vital strands of our social responsibility goals. They bring considerable professional experience to this agenda and I look forward to working with them in the coming years”.

Ian and Sheena will take up their appointments on 26 January 2015 for a period of three years.
