Each year the Biochemical Society looks for talented science writers to take part in our annual Science Communication Competition. The competition is open to all undergraduates and postgraduates, including non-members.
What do I have to do? To enter you need to submit an original piece of writing on a biomolecular topic of your choice, along with an entry form. The article must be aimed at the general public and must be no longer than 1,500 words. Entries will not be judged on any pictures included in the article, just the text. References must be included where appropriate.
Each entry must:
- comprise original work of up to 1,500 words
- be on a molecular bioscience topic (specified on your entry form)
- be targeted at the general public
- demonstrate a high level of spelling and grammar
- be scientifically accurate
- be creative, engaging and well-written
Prizes
- First prize £500
- Second prize £250
- Third prize £100
In addition to the cash prizes, the winning articles are published in our members’ magazine The Biochemist, and on the Society’s website.
Remember that the winning article will be published in our members magazine, however the article itself should be aimed at the general public.
